What is the NNFB?
The NNFB is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization located in White Stone, VA (Lancaster County). We provide logistical support to qualifying food pantries and organizations in the lower four counties of the Northern Neck (Lancaster, Northumberland, Richmond and Westmoreland) as well as Middlesex County.
What does the NNFB do?
The services we offer include:
Providing food to food banks at $0.19 per pound by acting as a redistribution center (RDO) for the Central Virginia Food Bank (CVFB)
Providing storage of dry, refrigerated and frozen foods
Delivering food items to the food pantries
Organizing forums for food pantries to exchange ideas and collaborate in their efforts
Collecting food from area farms and grocery stores for distribution to food pantries
Organizing food drives to collect food as well as to educate the community about nutritional needs for low income families
What is the difference between a Food Bank and a Food Pantry?
The terms are used interchangeably, but to simplify things, here are the definitions:
A Food Pantry is usually set up in a church or non-profit community organization as a means to distribute free food directly to needy families in their area. The food pantry’s distribution area is usually limited to a single geographic area such as a town, a zip code, or a county.
A Food Bank is a warehouse that provides food and logistical support to the Food Pantry.
How can I make donations to the NNFB?
As an individual you can make a one-time donation through our “donate” button on our website, or send a check to: Northern Neck Food Bank Po Box 93 White Stone, VA 22578.
As a church, the best contribution you can make to the community through NNFB is to commit an annual pledge on your church’s budget. The church is our community’s best asset for helping low-income families, and a partnership with NNFB strengthens that effort.

QUESTIONS OFTEN ASKED BY FOOD PANTRIES:
How can our food pantry sign up with NNFB?
If you are already a member of the Central Virginia Food Bank, then the transition is seamless. We can start delivering food to your food pantry immediately.
If you are not a member of the Central Virginia Food Bank, call us and we’ll get the process started.
Will signing up with Northern Neck Food Bank affect my membership with Central Virginia Food Bank?
No. We are a redistribution organization (RDO) under contract with the Central Virginia Food Bank and the purpose of the NNFB is to assist you in any way we can.
If I purchase food from NNFB, can I still purchase from the Central Virginia Food Bank warehouse?
Absolutely. In fact some of the food pantries we work with do just that. When I was running the pantry at the Church of the Nazarene, I used to love going through the warehouse up there. But in our area many of the pantries are run by people who are not as enthusiastic about moving a few thousand pounds of food from Richmond to their churches, that is one of the ways we can help.
Is there a membership fee with Northern Neck Food Bank?
No. The only membership fees are the ones that you are already paying to Central Virginia Food Bank. There is no extra fee for working with Northern Neck Food Bank?
Is there a charge for delivering food to our pantry?
No.
